PICKLEBALL

SERVING UP COMMUNITY

In Citizens Alley you will find 2 regulation sized Pickleball Courts. Pickleball is a racket sport that's been gaining quick popularity across the US due to it's low impact but high energy nature. It combines aspects of tennis, badminton, and table tennis. Pickleball is the perfect game for Citizens Alley because it's fun, brings people together, and is as social and it is competitive.

HOW TO PLAY:

Serving

Serve underhand, below the waist, diagonally to the opposite service court.
Serve must clear the net and land beyond the kitchen line.
Only the serving team can score points.
Start on the right side; switch sides after each point.

Basic Play

Double Bounce Rule: After the serve, the ball must bounce once on each side before volleys begin.
Kitchen Rule: No volleys (air shots) while standing in or touching the non-volley zone.
After the double bounce, players may volley or play off the bounce.
Play continues until a fault is committed.

Faults

Ball lands out of bounds
Ball doesn’t clear the net
Ball bounces twice on one side
Volleying from the kitchen
Serve lands in the kitchen

Scoring

Only the serving team scores.
Games typically played to 11 points, win by 2.
In doubles, each player on a team serves until their side faults.

FAQs

Court Setup

Typically at least one Pickleball Court will be set up and ready for play.
Pickleball Courts are FREE to use and do not have to be reserved ahead of time.
Courts may not be set up if there is an event in the Alley on any given day.

Equipment

Citizens Alley does provide paddles and pickleballs on most days when courts are setup
Equipment is the property of Citizens Alley and should be treated with care and respect.
Equipment provided by Citizens Alley should not be taken out of the alley.
If you have equipment of your own, you are more than welcome to bring it with you!

Citizens Alley is not responsible for any accidents or injuries that happen while using the Pickleball Courts. Please take precautions and play at your own risk and capabilities
- We know some of you can get a little too competitive...
In the event of rain and moisture, courts may become slick, take extra caution!

The pop-jet fountains are an interactive water feature designed for family-friendly play. It's so easy, all you have to do is hop in, press the button, and enjoy!

ALLEY-OOPING

You think you know ball? Perfect, you can shoot hoops in the Alley whenever you want. Thanks to Verendrye Electric for donating the hoop, we invite you to take it downtown... literally and figuratively.

How it Works

It's pretty simple, the basketball hoop is placed on the East entrance of Citizens Alley...pretty much all the time. Bring a ball, bring some friends, and play a quick game of P.I.G or show us your best trick shot.

You'll walk around Citizens Alley and probably see a plethora of things to do, including plenty of games to be played. We believe that we come together when we play together. Wether it's cornhole, checkers, Connect 4, or something you make up on your own, the power of competition is alive and well in Citizens Alley.

Basic Info

Not all games will be out, all the time... we like to mix it up around here!
Games may not be set out due to inclimate weather or if there is an event in the Alley later in the day.

Equipment

Equipment and pieces of all games are the property of Citizens Alley and should not leave the Alley.
